Parteras Urbanas, entre Patrimonio y C…
The upcoming artistic events run from May 5 to June 8, 2025, at the Open Gallery Grutas de las Rejas in Chapultepec, featuring a dynamic exploration of memory, migration, displacement, and the impacts of capitalism through various multimedia presentations. “Huellas de la Memoria” will showcase over 300 pairs of used shoes, symbolizing families in search of missing persons in Mexico, along with engravings, photographs, and a timeline documenting disappearances from 1969 to 2024. This poignant exhibition serves as a tribute to ongoing humanitarian issues.
Artists like Andrew Roberts will present works that critique neoliberal cultural production by creating characters and worlds grounded in the dynamics of late capitalism. Additionally, Ioulia Akhmadeeva’s “Territorios alterados” uses personal artifacts and family archives to investigate themes of memory and personal conflict, enriching the dialogue about identity and cultural heritage. Other highlights include Alberto Castro Leñero’s mural “Desplazamiento,” which visualizes migration and displacement narratives, and the inclusion of exhibitions celebrating indigenous identity and midwifery practices, notably reflecting the complex legacy of Partería amidst contemporary health discourses.
Together, these diverse artistic expressions encourage audiences to engage with pressing social issues while delving into the intersections of culture, memory, and identity.
