Eleven pilgrims returning home from the Basilica of Guadalupe in Mexico City were killed in a traffic accident early this morning.
The victims were traveling in the back of a truck when it collided with another truck on the Mexico City-Puebla highway near Santa Rita Tlahuapan.
Federal Police said another 13 people were injured, 10 of them pilgrims.
Cause of the accident had not been determined as of this afternoon.
An estimated 4.5 million people traveled to Mexico City yesterday for the annual celebration of the Virgin of Guadalupe.
