Police in Aguascalientes yesterday rescued a boy who had been left chained to a tree after they received a report from neighbors.
The 12-year-old was found chained by the neck in the backyard of a home in the Estrella neighborhood in the city of Aguascalientes.
He had been left outside for two days, authorities said, with only a chair to sit on.
He told police that his father left him chained when he went to work so that he wouldn’t leave the house. He said he had not eaten for two days.
A medical examination revealed that the youngster was severely dehydrated, had low blood sugar and showed clear signs of physical abuse.
He will remain in the custody of the local Women’s Justice Center while the Attorney General’s office investigates.
