Three employees of Banamex are being sought by the attorney general in connection with the fraud case involving the oil services company Oceanografía. Citigroup, owner of Banamex, has uncovered Us $565 million in loans that were authorized based on Oceanografía’s estimates of money it was owed by Pemex.
The bank fired 11 employees in May following an internal investigation.
The bank employees broke the law, said Attorney General Jesús Murillo yesterday. “These are not second-class employees,” he said. “At least in one case, one is or was a high-ranking employee.”
