Mexico pushes China into third place in North Carolina

Mexico has overtaken China as a trading partner with the U.S. state of North Carolina. Only Canada does more trade with the American state.

Last year, exports from North Carolina to Mexico were valued at US $2.7 billion and included products and services such as textiles, transportation, computers and machinery, generating 183,000 jobs.

Mexico is the only Latin American country to establish a consular office in the state capital, Raleigh.

There is growing interest among Mexican firms to set up shop in the state. ALFA Group, Cemex, Bimbo and Gruma Maseca already have a presence there.
