Risk consultancy optimistic about Mexico’s potential

Mexico today offers great potential and is a very attractive market, and investors are waiting hopefully for the approval of the secondary laws flowing from the structural reforms already approved.

Nick Panes, head of consultancy Control Risks’ Mexico office, said if all goes well with the secondary laws “we will maintain a very positive outlook in the medium and long terms for the Mexican market, because it’s very attractive.”

In a presentation to the Mexican Chamber of Commerce in Great Britain Panes said “we shall see high levels of investment and therefore major growth in the Mexican market.” He estimates GDP growth of 2.7% in 2014.

He said there are challenges and opportunities in telecommunications, oil and gas, energy generation, infrastructure development, engineering and finance.
