Authorities in Michoacán have seized another 62 properties “belonging” to the crime gang Caballeros Templarios.
The latest properties include four hotels, three beachfront tourist developments, two entertainment centers, a hacienda, two gas stations, three ranches, a banana plantation, parcels of raw land, 100 head of cattle of different breeds, and houses, both luxury and otherwise, some with swimming pools and others with secret compartments of varying dimensions.
The seized properties were the plunder of organized crime, stolen from victims of kidnapping and/or murder, authorities said, and are located in the municipalities of Aquila and Coahuayana.
Authorities also announced the capture of eight presumed gang members.
In his last report as Michoacán’s security commissioner, Alfredo Castillo said that during the course of the year in which he held that post officials arrested one ex-governor, the son of an ex-governor, 225 public servants, three high-level cabinet secretaries, eight mayors, a treasurer, 11 police officials and 158 police officers.
