The two occupants of a luxury sports car that was completely destroyed last Thursday in Tamaulipas suffered only minor injuries, according to the latest report on the accident.
The driver of the rare and expensive Koenigsegg CXX Custom Vision reportedly struck the curb on the Nuevo Laredo highway while travelling at an extremely high speed. The vehicle, powered by a 4.7-liter, 806-horsepower V-8 engine, flipped several times before coming to a stop in the median, with various parts strewn in a wide area around it.
Said to be the only Koenigsegg in Mexico, the car had spent a few years in Monterrey after it was purchased by the son of a lawyer. It was recently sold, for a reported US $1.4 million, to a dealer in exotic vehicles, the website Motorpasión México reported yesterday, who was driving the vehicle at the time of the accident.
He and a 28-year-old passenger were transferred to the Hospital México-Americano in Nuevo Laredo and treated for injuries described as minor.
The CXX model was built by the Swedish auto manufacturer between 2006 and 2010, during which time it turned out just 49.
