A new fuel terminal will be built in Ensenada, Baja California, by IEnova, the Mexico subsidiary of the United States energy services company Sempra Energy.
With a capacity of 1 million barrels of gasoline and diesel, the US $130-million Baja Refinados terminal will be located at the La Jovita Energy Hub and increase fuel supply capacity and reliability in Baja California, IEnova said.
The terminal is expected to begin operations in the second half of 2020.
IEnova also reported that it has signed a long-term contract to supply Chevron service stations and other commercial and industrial consumers in Baja California, allocating approximately 50% of the facility’s storage and send-out capacity for that purpose.
Chevron will have the option to acquire 20% equity in the facility after commercial operations begin, said the statement.
IEnova will be responsible for the development of the terminal project, including obtaining permits, engineering, procurement, construction and financing, as well as maintenance and operations.
