No one hurt after air show plane crash

The plane was part of an aerial exhibition during the Aerospace Fair

Two Mexican Air Force pilots successfully ejected from their plane today before it crashed during an air show at this week’s Aerospace Fair 2015 at the Santa Lucía air base in the State of México.

The plane, a Hawker Beechcraft T-6C Texan II, was engaged in an aerial display about 11 o’clock this morning when the pilots lost control.

After they ejected the plane crashed within the grounds of the base, creating a large column of black smoke.

There were no injuries and no damage to base facilities, the National Defense Secretariat said in a news release.

The single-engine, turboprop aircraft is often used for pilot training.

The air show was the final event of the four-day Aerospace Fair, held to celebrate and promote Mexico’s fast-growing aerospace industry.
