She has set a goal for the minimum wage to be 10,000 pesos per month (approximately $500 USD / month) by the end of her administration.”

Mexico News Daily CEO Travis Bembenek offers some counterarguments to the idea that increasing Mexico’s minimum wage is bad for business.

The reform also mandates that teachers, security forces, doctors and nurses be paid at least as much as the average IMSS-registered worker.

The current minimum wage in most of the country is 248.93 pesos (US $13) per day or 7,467 pesos (US $390) per month.
