Eugenio Landesio. Las lecciones del Ar…
In 1843, the conservative administration of the government of Antonio López de Santa Anna planned a renewal of the Mexican educational system. In that vein, and thanks to the optimal management of the Lottery funds, the plans aimed to promote the development of the arts in Mexico through the reorganization of the San Carlos Academy. In May 1854, the Piedmontese painter and engraver Eugenio Landesio was chosen as the master of landscape, perspective, and ornament painting, due to his long and solid artistic training in a cosmopolitan Rome, where he learned from the traditions of French, Italian, and German landscape painting.
