SIGN-IN is the first retrospective dedicated to the artist Tina Girouard (Louisiana, USA, 1946–2020). Girouard was a committed experimental artist, collaborator, and art worker, whose practice contributed to feminist movements in art, craft, performance, and video. ‘I like that art functions as a refuge, as a space of preservation,’ Girouard wrote. By blurring the boundaries between her public contexts and private life, she constructed and maintained these temporary refuges. In the structures she created, the elements were sacred, and each organization of people, materials, and signs was more than the sum of its parts.
