The exhibition ‘The horizon always moves away’ combines a reflection on contemporaneity, as posed by the philosopher Giorgio Agamben, with an exploration of the Impressionist revolution, addressing its impact on modern art. This show brings together works that examine the implications of the term contemporary in relation to the current geopolitical and social environment, while celebrating the legacy of the Impressionists, from their origin in 1874 to their influence on the development of 20th-century art. Through exceptional collections from the Dallas Museum of Art, it is evident how artists like Monet, Degas, and Morisot broke with tradition, redefining techniques and themes, which in turn laid the groundwork for subsequent avant-garde movements. Thus, the exhibition is presented as a dialogue between the current concerns of artists and the innovations that transformed art in their time.
