Daniel struggles to survive, demonstrating that he can defend himself because he is strong, in the way that everyone else believes one should be strong: by hurting others, exerting that brutal force to violate, and thus being able to stay on the sidelines of exclusion, with the fear of facing oneself. To do this, he will have to be able to suppress his instinct, as not doing so can be really dangerous. Julia watches him, attentive.
