Purchase Tickets Online HERE One of our long-standing members, Larry Harris, is an extremely talented pianist, although not a professional, who has generously agreed to play a benefit concert to provide funds for our Academy of Music, which teaches 8-14 year olds the basics of music and an instrument of their choice. The concert will be at St. Paul’s church on Sunday July 27 at 5pm. Larry will play the exquisite last three piano sonatas of Franz Schubert. Larry grew up in Pittsburgh, PA, where his music studies began at age 6. He completed his undergraduate studies at Brandeis University, where he majored in music. He also holds an MBA degree from New York University, and a Master of Arts in Liberal Studies degree from Wesleyan University. Among his teachers were Leonard Shure, Seymour Bernstein and Luiz de Moura Castro. He has appeared as soloist with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra and the Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia, and has also been an active chamber musician. In addition, he has participated in competitions for amateur pianists in Paris, Berlin, New York, Washington, Boston, Chicago, Fort Worth and Colorado Springs. After retirement from a 35-year long career in the financial world, Larry resumed the full-time study of piano, and has been giving solo recitals. In addition, he has served on the Boards of Directors of the Hartford Symphony Orchestra, and Music Haven, an organization that provides instruments and music instruction to inner-city students in New Haven, Connecticut. The concert will be approximately 90 minutes long, with an interval when the bar will be open. Tickets for the concert at St. Paul’s are $300, $500, and $700 pesos donation each, and are on sale through our website, and at the concert 45 minutes before performance time.
