El horizonte siempre se aleja
The exhibition titled “The horizon always moves away” brings together a selection of works that examine the complexities of the term “contemporary,” according to the philosopher Giorgio Agamben, who suggests that this concept transcends temporal categories. This show reflects the concerns of current artists in relation to their geopolitical and social environment. In parallel, the exhibition “Urban Midwives, between Heritage and C…” addresses the historical and cultural tensions surrounding midwifery, emphasizing how the practice of this has been disqualified by hegemonic medical discourses, despite its sacred significance in Mesoamerican cosmogony. Finally, “Woman Huipil. Warps and Stitches” pays tribute to the importance of the huipil as an identity garment of indigenous peoples and celebrates the women who preserve this textile art, presenting more than 100 traditional costumes. Together, these exhibitions illuminate the cultural richness and contemporary struggles in today’s society.
