Sinfonietta MIQ celebrates its 5th anniversary with a tour of three concerts through the theaters of Celaya, Guanajuato and San Miguel de Allende on June 4, 5 and 7, 2025, with a night full of emotional music, which invites you to imagine cinematic and poetic landscapes, with 9 musicians and Jharetty Guerrero, as guest mezzo-soprano, Jesús Almanza, guest conductor and Georgina Derbez Roque, as resident composer. For the first time and to celebrate the five years of this musical project, a Mexican woman composer leads the chamber music project of the Iconographic Museum of Don Quixote, with the presentation of her premiere in the state of her song “Marinero soy de amor” inspired by the book of Don Quixote de la Mancha. Derbez is considered one of the creators with the greatest presence and influence in academic music in Mexico. His works have been performed in multiple countries in Europe, Brazil, Japan, Canada and the United States. She has ventured into interdisciplinary artistic projects, such as Las pupilas de la luna (2020) for piano, electronics and video. Some of his most representative works are his Concerto for piano and orchestra (2021), De las tinieblas la luz, for orchestra (2020), Concerto for clarinet and orchestra Ascenso al celeste (2018) Juan Trigos, artistic director of the Sinfonietta MIQ, Mexican conductor and composer created an eclectic program that pays tribute to great composers on their birth and death anniversaries, exploring the variety of their chamber music. He shared that the audience will experience endless emotions with the concerts of Sinfonietta MIQ: “From the subtlety of Luciano Berio, the lyricism of Marion Bauer, through the expressive depth of Henrry Purcell, the irony of Poulenc and the premiere in Guanajuato of “Marinero soy de amor” by the Mexican composer Georgina Derbez, a tribute to the Sephardic tradition and the Cervantes universe” He added that “we will imagine poetic landscapes inspired by cinema,” with the piece Souvenirs de voyage by composer Bernard Hermann, known for creating the soundtracks of films such as “Psycho” and “Vertigo” by filmmaker Alfred Hitchcock, and “Taxi Driver” by Martin Scorsese. Jesús Almanza will once again be guest conductor. Current director of the Santiago de Querétaro Camerata, the Santiago de Querétaro Choir and the Silvestre Revueltas Youth Symphony Orchestra. Jharetty Guerrero, mezzo-soprano singer graduated from the Celaya Conservatory of Music, of which she was also part of its choir, is the guest singer. He has participated in the Youth Choir, the Symphonic Band and the Silvestre Revueltas Youth Symphony Orchestra. He currently collaborates with the Artifex Sui choir of Celaya. The Sinfonietta MIQ is the chamber music group of the Iconographic Museum of Don Quixote created since 2020 under the artistic direction of Juan Trigos, composer and conductor, with the impetus of the Iconographic Museum of Don Quixote and Guanajuato Gobierno de la Gente. An avant-garde chamber music project made up of talented musicians dedicated to disseminating the repertoire of Mexican composers, as well as classics from the eighteenth century to the present day. An innovative proposal: versatility in instrumental combinations; where each concert integrates a different ensemble with world premieres, guest soloists and resident composers. The concerts were possible thanks to the collaboration of the MIQ with the Institute of Art and Culture of Celaya, and the Directorate of Culture and Traditions of San Miguel de Allende.
