The Nutcracker | Youth Ballet from Casa Hogar Corazón Valiente
Casa Hogar Corazón Valiente (Children’s home) brings its Ballet Pavlova to the stage with a free performance of The Nutcracker on Friday, December 19, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m., offering San Miguel audiences a chance to see this Christmas classic through the talent and discipline of young dancers from the children’s home. The beloved story follows a girl who receives a nutcracker as a Christmas gift, only to see it come to life that night and lead her into a world of wonder, from a battle with the Mouse King to a journey through the Land of Snow and a grand celebration in the Kingdom of Sweets.
Set in the intimate Teatro Santa Ana at the Biblioteca Pública, the production combines familiar music and choreography with the emotional resonance of a project that doubles as artistic training and empowerment for children and teens in care. For residents, expats and visitors, it is an opportunity not only to enjoy a cherished holiday ballet in the heart of San Miguel’s centro histórico, but also to support the work of a local organization dedicated to giving its girls confidence, discipline and a place in the cultural life of the city.

Teatro Santa Ana, located within the Biblioteca Pública at Insurgentes 25 in downtown San Miguel de Allende, is an intimate cultural venue with a rich and layered history. The building dates back to the mid-1700s, originally serving as a home for women and girls before becoming the city’s municipal slaughterhouse and, in 1958, a center for community learning. The theater itself was inaugurated in 1998, quickly becoming a beloved space for drama, music, dance, film, and special events. With its modern amenities and warm atmosphere, Teatro Santa Ana continues to foster artistic creativity and community engagement in the heart of the city.
