Here, amidst broken laughs and desperate applause, clowns, tightrope walkers, and prophets of disaster confront the fears that society projects onto the new generations. Yes, ladies and gentlemen… history repeats itself, time and time again, generation after generation… Bienvenidos al Último Circo antes del Fin del Mundo, donde verán actos asombrosos, actuaciones imposibles y verdades que quizá no quieran saber. Aquí, entre risas entrecortadas y aplausos desesperados, payasos, equilibristas y profetas del desastre confrontan los miedos que la sociedad proyecta en las nuevas generaciones. Sí, damas y caballeros… la historia se repite una y otra vez, generación tras generación… The origin of the El Sindicato dates back to the early 1900s, when they began building the facilities of the textile factory “La Aurora”. In the recreational Street building number 4, the seat of its workers’ union was established, growing to more than 300 members. The home had a large auditorium and various facilities. The building was for many years as well as a meeting place, a social, cultural and recreational center for the families of workers and the public in general. In the year 1995, after the closure of the factory, the management of the property to the Civil Association “El Recreo de San Miguel”, who today continues to govern the activities of the place he relented. It has been called “El Recreo”, “The Union”, “House of Performing Arts” and we now know as “The Syndicate – Alternative Cultural Space”. It has changed names several times throughout its history, have also addressed different people, but always with the common goal of bringing culture and art to the San Miguel community, as well as open doors to all artistic and cultural proposals of the community. The Union is an alternative, independent and autonomous management of cultural space. Over time, through donations and fundraising events organized by various artists and friends of the Association, they have been improving the facilities of the site, which now consists of two rooms with hardwood floor, salon music, multi-purpose auditorium with capacity for 120 people and a literary cafe. The Union activity can be divided into four main areas: School of Arts: where classical ballet (technical Vaganova and Royal), Dance for children, Hip hop, contemporary technique, Training Floor, Contempo-Jazz, Flamenco Dynamic, Fitness, Dance Heels, African Dance, Dance taught Arabic, Hawaiian Dance, Theater, Kundalini Yoga, Chi Kung, Circus, Singing, Piano, Folk Dance, etc. Forum where most shows, conferences and other events take place. For him have passed artists and companies like Nemian Dance Stage (Mexico), Valentina Marenco (dance, Costa Rica), Marta García Renart (pianist, Mx), Fausto Castelo (pianist, Mx), Irene Martinez Rios (dance, Mx) the Tribe (music, Mx), lions saw Xichú (music, Mx), Los Cojolites (music, Mx), Gabriel Hernández (pianist, Cuba), Rafael Mendoza (singer, Mx), Jimena Giménez Cacho (cellist, Mx). Also the Auditorium of The Union has hosted festivals like FRINGE (theater), International Jewish Film Festival, cycles of the National Film, Theater Encounter, International Puppet Festival, THEATRICAL, Soliloquios and Dialogues Bailamos and has coproduced several plays. Literary Cafe “La Cafeta” where,additionthe cafeteria and community room, courses and workshops (literature, photography) concerts, conferences and shows that require more coffee theater environment offered. Viral Dance Collective Escénico, resident dance company : came to the Union in 2013. The 6 members are graduates of the EPDM (Professional School of Dance of Mazatlan), directed by the company Delphi. The quality of their work have obtained several grants and awards, among which are: Artistic Development Single State Fund for Culture and Arts of Sonora, grant academic residence at the Bates Dance Festival, grant residence next to the Inc. Cortocinesis of Colombia, Award for best performer in the Iberian Festival Contemporary whose prize was an academic residence in Madrid Spain, award for Best Female Performer of Culiacán Choreography Award 2011 selection within the Emergency Choreographic the INBA program in 2011, award best male performer of Culiacán Choreography Award 2012 and award for best male performer of the XVIII Regional Competition official Selection Choreography and cultural billboard “Dance in Time” of the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit 2013-14 among others.
