Tixinda: 40 años en la defensa del car…
Tixinda: 40 years in defense of the purple snail is an event that presents a historical and biocultural journey through the four decades of struggle of the Mixtec community of Pinotepa de Don Luis, Oaxaca, for the preservation of the ancestral dye of the purple snail, known as tixinda, and the valuable textile knowledge associated with it. Complementing this celebration, the work of Andrew Roberts stands out for its focus on the appropriation and “hacking” of commercial forms of cultural production in the context of neoliberalism, generating multimedia projects that question the dynamics of late capitalism by creating characters and worlds derived from research on cultural archetypes. Likewise, Huellas de la Memoria presents more than 300 pairs of shoes worn by families searching for their missing loved ones in Mexico from 1969 to 2024, accompanied by engravings and photographs documenting this ongoing humanitarian issue, paying tribute to those involved in this painful search.
