Biblioteca Pública A.C., located at Insurgentes 25, Zona Centro, San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato 37700—with a secondary entrance for its theater and café at Relox 50A—is a nonprofit cultural center founded in 1974 and recognized as one of the most active community institutions in San Miguel de Allende. The complex houses three distinct event spaces: the Teatro Santa Ana, the Sala Quetzal, and the Patio Principal—a colonial courtyard open to the city’s UNESCO World Heritage streetscape—collectively hosting over 312 cultural events annually including film screenings, theater, dance, concerts, lectures, and language classes in both Spanish and English. For event organizers, the Biblioteca offers a deeply rooted community venue with free public access, bilingual programming capacity, and a reputation as the cultural heart of San Miguel de Allende’s diverse mix of local residents, expats, and international visitors.
