East Cape’s Original Art Festival Returns to La Ribera
Now in its 31st edition and coinciding with International Women’s Day, Festival de Artes takes place on Sunday, March 8, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the La Ribera community plaza in Baja California Sur, with free admission for all. The all-day open-air event features curated original artwork across mediums including oil, watercolor, ceramics, metalwork and glass, alongside a classic car and motorcycle show, a live Mexican folkloric entertainment stage, a craft beer garden with Pacific Brew, Rancho la Venta wines and food vendors, plus raffle and silent auction items.
Organized by Asociación de Artes del Mar de Cortez A.C., the festival is the longest-running art event on the East Cape and serves a clear community purpose: all proceeds support arts education programs at more than 20 schools in the surrounding region. A paid shuttle service from Los Barriles (500 pesos per person) makes the event easily accessible from the Los Cabos corridor, and nearby accommodation options in La Ribera and East Cape make it a natural centerpiece for a weekend trip to one of Baja’s most authentic and unspoiled coastal communities.

Asociación de Artes del Mar Cortez, A.C. is a registered Mexican non-profit organization founded in 1992 and based in Los Barriles, on the East Cape of Baja California Sur, making it one of the oldest arts and community organizations in the region. For over three decades, the association has supported local youth and schools through art classes, school supply donations, summer program funding, and the publication of East Capers Magazine, while also producing two annual art shows and the Artist Studio Tour. As an organizer, Asociación de Artes del Mar Cortez brings a well-established community presence and a strong track record of curating quality cultural events — most notably the Festival de Artes, the longest-running art festival on the East Cape — making it a trusted partner for events that celebrate local artisans, foster creativity, and connect visitors with the authentic cultural life of Baja California Sur.
Venue
The community plaza of La Ribera, located in La Ribera, East Cape, Los Cabos, Baja California Sur, is the central public gathering space of this small coastal village situated along the Sea of Cortez, approximately 59 kilometers from Los Cabos International Airport and 24 kilometers from Cabo Pulmo National Marine Park. The plaza serves as the social heart of a community of around 2,000 residents—primarily fishermen and tourism workers—whose traditional way of life persists alongside the rapid development of the East Cape corridor, offering event organizers an authentic, community-embedded setting that reflects the quieter, more organic character of Baja California Sur beyond its resort towns.
