The Labor gallery is pleased to present the fourth solo exhibition by Pablo Vargas Lugo. This is OMEGA, a set of six artworks that unravel the complex system of time, its measurement, its end, and all those different mechanisms to evade it, suspend it, forget it, or escape from it.

The clock hanging from the ceiling of Labor displays the Omega that accompanied the astronauts to the Moon and that divers wear when submerging into the depths, as a mark of the prestigious Swiss watchmaking house founded in 1894 by Louis Brandt and sons. This installation is complemented by three fabric and paper collages based on the alternating colored bands that adorn the margins of Tibetan mandalas.

OMEGA rescues the last letter of the Greek alphabet, a symbol of the Christian Apocalypse; which in turn contains the divine syllable of Sanskrit. The interweaving of codes and symbols, a constant in Vargas Lugo’s work, reveals humanity’s permanent concern for the
