The Dinosaurs — A Sharp, Funny & Deeply Human New Play
From April 8 to 11 at 6:00 p.m., Teatro Santa Ana at San Miguel de Allende’s Biblioteca Pública hosts a special Concert Reading of The Dinosaurs: a bold new work by award-winning playwright and mental health counselor Jacob Perkins, directed by Richard Hochberg and presented by Players Workshop as part of their New Work Series. The play follows a group of women who gather in the same room at the same hour every week to speak, listen and hold each other up as the world shifts around them. It’s a portrait of the quiet, stubborn resilience of female friendship, funny, tender and piercingly honest in equal measure.
Performed in English by a cast of six — Antonia Banewicz, Jocelyn Benford, Marjorie Burren, Julia Gasca, Davana May and Clau Menchaca — this is the kind of new theater that stays with you long after you leave the room. Tickets are a $330 peso donation to La Biblioteca Pública, available at labibliotecapublica.org. Don’t miss this intimate and powerful evening.
