Heavy rain, strong winds, dangerous surf and the risk of sudden flooding have disrupted daily life, prompting the preventive suspension of all public and private school activities in La Paz, Los Cabos and Comondú, while temporary shelters have opened in Los Cabos for vulnerable residents. These stories matter because they offer timely, practical information for everyone in the region: avoid beaches and restricted sea access, never attempt to cross flooded streets or arroyos, and follow updates from Civil Protection and Conagua. Even 30 centimeters of fast-moving water can carry away a vehicle.

Heavy to very heavy rains are forecast for central and southern Baja California Sur through Tuesday, increasing flood risks in La Paz, Los Cabos and Comondú.
The storm has already hit Los Cabos, causing flooding and damaging some businesses, including the famous Cabo Wabo Cantina, owned by rocker Sammy Hagar.
