Las temperaturas alcanzaron 47 grados. – Temperatures reached 47 degrees. La gente les mostró hospitalidad. – People showed them hospitality. Estaban cansados y deshidratados. – They were tired and dehydrated. Querían conocer la cultura. – They wanted to get to know the culture. Grammar Focus Preterite for completed actions: Llegaron, pidieron, derribó. Imperfect for ongoing or background descriptions: hacía calor, estaban cansados, llovía. Example: Sufrieron (preterite) mucho calor, porque hacía (imperfect) mucho sol. El desafío del calor y la hospitalidad mexicana Jack y Oisín son dos ciclistas irlandeses que viajaron desde Canadá a Argentina. En México, sufrieron mucho en Baja California debido al calor extremo y al viento fuerte. Durante días, las temperaturas alcanzaron los 47 grados Celsius, lo que les causó agotamiento y deshidratación. Oisín incluso intentó crear sombra con su tienda de campaña, pero el viento lo derribó. A pesar de estos retos, la gente les mostró gran hospitalidad. En Nayarit, Jack estuvo enfermo y los médicos y enfermeras lo cuidaron con amabilidad, dándole agua y buenos deseos para su aventura.
