• Present tense of estar for feelings/locations:

  • Estoy feliz. – I am happy.

• Hay + noun to say “there is/there are”:

  • Hay uvas y comida. – There are grapes and food.

La noche de Año Nuevo en México

La noche de Año Nuevo en México es muy especial. A las doce, muchas familias comen doce uvas para tener buenos deseos en el año nuevo. Hay mucha comida en la casa: tamales, pozole y más. La familia habla, ríe y escucha música. En la calle hay fuegos artificiales y mucho ruido. Algunas personas usan ropa interior roja o amarilla para tener amor o dinero. Después de la medianoche, todos dan abrazos y dicen "¡Feliz Año Nuevo!". El día siguiente es más tranquilo y todos descansan.
