⚡ Grammar Focus: Ser or estar?

English uses “to be” for both identity and feelings. Spanish gives you two useful tools.

For this lesson, remember:

• Soy answers “Who am I?”

• Estoy answers “How am I feeling?”

This is a starting pattern, not a universal “permanent versus temporary” rule. A profession can change, yet Spanish still uses ser to identify it.

Mini-mission: complete Soy… with an identity and Estoy… with a feeling. You have just built two sentences that say something different about you.

📖 Mi cuaderno de naturaleza

Me llamo Bel y vivo en México. Me gusta caminar y mirar las plantas. Un día, encuentro una vaina roja en el suelo. Es muy bonita. Ahora tengo un cuaderno y dibujo flores, hojas y frutas. Uso un bolígrafo negro y lápices de colores. A veces, pinto con acuarelas.

En mi cuaderno hay mariposas, abejas y plantas de muchos colores. Me gusta el amarillo de las flores y el verde de las hojas. También observo una planta con flores blancas. Para dibujar, uso papel gris.

Me siento y miro la naturaleza con atención. Siempre encuentro algo interesante. México es mi inspiración. Hoy soy artista y estoy feliz. Mañana quiero salir otra vez y dibujar una flor nueva en mi cuaderno.
