Structure:
ser + past participle + por + agent (if you want to mention who performed the action)

La Ciudad Universitaria fue construida entre 1950 y 1952.
Ciudad Universitaria was built between 1950 and 1952.

La Biblioteca Central fue diseñada por Juan O’Gorman.
The Central Library was designed by Juan O’Gorman.

The past participle must agree with the noun:

El campus fue declarado… — The campus was declared…
Las rocas fueron integradas… — The rocks were integrated…

📖 Arquitectura, historia y autonomía

La Ciudad Universitaria de la UNAM no fue construida en un terreno convencional. Durante siglos, el Pedregal de San Ángel fue una extensa zona de basalto negro, formada por la erupción del volcán Xitle alrededor del año 280. Sin embargo, entre 1950 y 1952, arquitectos, ingenieros y artistas transformaron ese paisaje volcánico en uno de los proyectos culturales más ambiciosos de América Latina.

En lugar de eliminar las rocas, los diseñadores integraron la lava en los caminos, jardines y muros. Esa decisión creó una relación excepcional entre arquitectura, paisaje y arte. La Biblioteca Central, cubierta por un mosaico de Juan O’Gorman, representa etapas de la historia mexicana mediante piedras naturales de distintos colores.

La UNAM también posee autonomía desde 1929: puede elegir a sus autoridades, organizar sus programas académicos y administrar su presupuesto. Por eso, no solo forma profesionales; también participa activamente en los debates científicos, sociales y culturales del país.
