A 21-year-old Indigenous woman from Veracruz who wowed judges with her soccer ball-juggling skills won the contest to represent Mexico at the opening match of the World Cup.
The move is welcomed by the border city and the Sheinbaum administration, but it has sent local and federal officials scrambling to ensure logistics and security.
